Who gets it

Every homeowner, dwelling fire and farm policy with a Grinnell liability.

It includes first-party and third-party coverage, so it requires both property coverage and a Grinnell liability. Policies with an IMT liability won’t get it.

Limits and deductible

• Homeowner and dwelling fire: $25,000 limit only.
• Farm: $25,000. $50,000 or $100,000 can be added by amendment at the agent’s request.

There’s no deductible, except a $500 deductible for data recovery.

Dec page and claims

The coverage appears at the bottom of the property coverage section on the dec page.

Claims go to Farmers Mutual through the online portal and are forwarded to CyberScout for adjusting. Grinnell Mutual pays by check, the same way equipment breakdown claims work.

Declining the coverage

• Renewals: insureds can reject it by signing the rejection form that comes with their renewal. The coverage is removed back to the anniversary date.
• New applications: it’s added by default. Unchecking the box declines it.

A signed rejection form is recommended for the agency’s records but not required.
